Spaghetti and Turkey Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs is always a good idea. We completely free styled with this recipe but it came out so delicious and the meatballs were the prefect size. It's quite a long process but definitely worth it!! We hope you love it as much as we did!

Ingredients

  • 1000g Turkey Mince or Beef (I know its a lot! But if you want them big like these ones you need a lot of meat!)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp Black pepper

  • 1 tsp white pepper

  • 1 tsp Chilli powder

  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce

  • 1 tsp Paprika

  • 1/2 tsp Thyme

  • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 and 1/2 tsp Garlic and Ginger paste or powder

  • 1 tsp Italian blend seasoning

  • 1 tbsp All purpose seasoning

  • Parsley

  • 1 pack of Spaghetti

  • Tomato passata or Tomato and Herb Sauce

  • Tomato paste

  • Half an Onion

  • Panko breadcrumbs or normal breadcrumbs

  • 3/4 garlic cloves

  • Any red wine of your choice

Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

  2. First of all, place your mince in a large bowl and add in the egg, black pepper, paprika, soy sauce, thyme, oregano, salt, garlic powder, parsley and mix till everything is fully incorporated

  3. I put mine in the fridge for about an hour or two. Once you take it out use a table spoon to create your balls (about 1 1/4 tbsp of meat) or which ever size you prefer.

  4. Now, lightly coat in breadcrumbs and set aside.

  5. After that, you will lightly fry in a pan till all the sides are brown, does not have to be fully cooked through (you’re still going to place in the oven)

  6. Once you’re done frying all the meatballs, place in your prepared oven tray lined with foil and place in oven for about 15 - 20 minutes (or till they look done to you).

  7. Whilst that is cooking you can work on the tomato sauce.

  8. For the sauce you might need a puree tool to puree the onions into the tomato sauce but if you don’t you can blend the tomato, garlic, chilli, tomato paste in a blender with some olive oil till smooth. If you’d rather skip this step then just continue with the steps below.

  9. Put some olive oil in a deep dish pan or pot (either or is fine). Put in your onions, chilli and garlic and fry till the onion starts turning translucent.

  10. Now add in your tomato sauce and a pinch of salt, black pepper and about 1/2 cup of red wine and let that cook for about 5 minutes.

  11. Once that has cooked for a few minutes, add in Italian herb seasoning, paprika, all purpose seasoning, white pepper and let it cook for a further about 10 minutes or so.

  12. Once that’s done to your liking, add in your meat balls and make sure they are well incorporated into the sauce and leave to cook for about five minutes and it should be done.
